Originally formed to serve internal requirements for coating CCI nonlinear materials, the CCI Coating Group is also available on a contract basis. Capabilities include dielectric thin film deposition and SolGel coatings. Our dielectric coating tools include thermal evaporation, e-beam deposition (ion-assisted), and dual ion-beam sputter deposition. Utilizing proprietary and commercial thin film design software, our Coating specialists are able to custom design single and multi-layer optical thin films to meet diverse customer requirements. Typical contract coating projects include laser rods, optical parametric oscillators, prisms, high-efficiency reflectors, single and multi-band reflectors, and beam splitters. Cleveland Crystals has a wide range of diagnostics to analyze the performance of these coatings. These diagnostics include spectrophotometry, surface profilometry and laser calorimetery. Mil-Spec testing can be performed when required. Originally preferred for their high-damage threshold AR performance in high-power laser systems, SolGel coatings are now used in a variety of applications requiring broadband, high transmission performance. Because they are deposited in ambient conditions, SolGel coatings may be applied to substrates unable to withstand the thermal stresses induced during the substrate heating often required with processes used to deposit dielectric films. The CCI SolGel Group has specific competencies in the coating of large-aperture astronomical optics, having successfully coated spectrographic lenses for the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory. From small-scale R&D runs to production operations, the CCI coating group will work with you to develop a thin-film coating solution.
